CITY OF WICHITA FALLS
WHEREAS, general aviation and community airports play a critical role in the lives of many citizens, especially those who operate businesses and farms, as well as providing essential services that ensure the continued flow of commerce, tourists and visitors to our region; and,
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Regional Airport SPS and the Kickapoo Downtown Airport have an immense economic impact on Wichita Falls; and,
WHEREAS, according to the Texas Department of Transportation, general aviation in Texas supports more than 56,000 jobs, generates $14.6 billion in economic activity annually, and plays a vital role in the State’s response to emergencies and natural disasters; and,
WHEREAS, the nation’s aviation infrastructure represents an important public benefit, and Congressional oversight should be in place to ensure stable funding of this system.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Glenn Barham, Mayor of Wichita Falls, do hereby proclaim November, 2016 as
GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH
in Wichita Falls, and I encourage all citizens to learn more about aviation and to recognize the contributions of the hardworking professionals that are part of the Aviation Industry.
