WHEREAS; the Wisconsin Department of Transportation has demonstrated that aviation and airports generate about $7 billion annually in economic activity and support 100,000 jobs, which provide billions in personal income to Wisconsin residents; and
WHEREAS; Wisconsin’s strong foundation of industry, research, and manufacturing know-how leaves the state uniquely positioned to advance in the global aerospace industry; and
WHEREAS; Wisconsin’s 127 public-use airports provide reliable access to regional and world markets for businesses – accommodating about 5 million passengers and more than 120 million pounds of cargo in 2015; and
WHEREAS; aviation not only drives Wisconsin’s economy, it improves our overall quality of life by providing vital emergency medical transportation, enhancing public safety by assisting law enforcement, and transporting leisure travelers to their destinations quickly and safely; and
I, Mike Wiza, Mayor of the City of Stevens Point, do hereby proclaim the month of July, 2016, as
throughout the City of Stevens Point, and I commend this observance to all of our citizens.
