    A Resolution of the City of Oroville, Washington,
    Proclaiming the Month of February, 2015 as
    General Aviation Month

    WHEREAS, General aviation and local airports play a critical role in the success of our local businesses and the livelihoods of citizens; and

    WHEREAS, the economic impact of general aviation is $150 billion and this industry supports over 1.2 million jobs across the county; and

    WHEREAS, according to the 2012 Economic Impact Survey conducted by the Washington State Department of Transportation, the aviation industry supports over 248,500 jobs, $15.3 billion in payroll and has an economic impact of $50.9 billion in the state of Washington; and

    WHEREAS, according to a 2006 Merge Global study, annually general aviation accounts for $3.18 billion in economic impact and supports 7,615 jobs in the state of Washington; and

    WHEREAS, within a 25 mile radius of Oroville, general aviation has a local economic impact of over $3.2 million and supports 54 jobs; and

    WHEREAS, the City of Oroville and the state of Washington have a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation as a resource that drives economic growth for our community’s farms, and sustains critical services such as medical care and disaster relief; and

    THEREFORE, I, Chuck Spieth, serving as Mayor of the City of Oroville, do hereby proclaim February 2015 as General Aviation Appreciation Month in the City of Oroville, and invite all citizens to recognize this occasion.
