WHEREAS, The City of Omaha has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aircraft manufacturing, aviation educational institutions, aviation organizations, and community airports, and
WHEREAS, Nebraska is home to 81 public use airports, which serve thousands of pilots and active general aviation aircraft, and
WHEREAS, General aviation supports our economy. It improves overall quality of life by supporting emergency medical and health care services, law enforcement, land management, agriculture, firefighting, and transporting business travelers to their destinations quickly and safely, and
WHEREAS, The North Omaha Airport is home to Able1, the Omaha Police Department helicopter, which is an incredible asset to our local law enforcement enforcement, and
WHEREAS, The nation’s aviation infrastructure represents an important public benefit.
Now Therefore, I, Jean Stothert, Mayor of the City of Omaha, do hereby proclaim May, 2016 as
GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH
