WHEREAS, The City of Omaha has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aircraft manufacturing, aviation education institutions, aviation organizations, and community airports, and
WHEREAS, General aviation and local airports have an immense economic impact on the City of Omaha, and
WHEREAS, Nebraska is home to 81 public use airports, which serve 3,498 pilots and 2,013 active general aviation aircraft, and
WHEREAS, General aviation in Nebraska has an economic output of $1.2 billion annually, and supports 7,900 jobs, and
WHEREAS, General aviation supports Nebraska’s economy, improves overall quality of life by supporting emergency medical and health care services, law enforcement, firefighting and disaster relief, and by transporting business travelers to their destinations quickly and safely.
NOW THEREFORE, I Jean Stothert, Mayor of the City of Omaha, do hereby proclaim May, 2015 as
GENERAL AVIATION APPRCIATION MONTH
