  • PROCLAMATION

    WHEREAS, general aviation and airports play critical roles in the lives of our citizens, as well as in the operation of our businesses and farms; and

    WHEREAS, the city of Muskogee has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aircraft manufacturing, aviation organizations and airports; and

    WHEREAS, many communities in Oklahoma depend heavily on their airports and general aviation for the continued flow of commerce, tourism and essential services; and

    WHEREAS, general aviation is vital to many Oklahoma and Muskogee businesses that depend on it to increase productivity, reach far-off markets, and to move personnel, equipment and products; and

    WHEREAS, aviation in Oklahoma contributes more than $1.2 billion to our state’s economy annually; and

    WHEREAS, general aviation also improves our citizens’ quality of life by providing critical services such as healthcare services, law enforcement, firefighting, and disaster relief services; and

    NOW THEREFORE, I, JOHN ROBERT COBURN, Mayor, do hereby proclaim April 2016 as

    AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH

    Given under my hand in the City of Muskogee, on this first day of April twenty-sixteen, and to which I have cause the Seal of Muskogee, Oklahoma to be affixed and have made this proclamation public.
