    DECEMBER – 2014

    WHEREAS, General Aviation and Community Airports play a critical role in the lives of our citizens, as well as in the operation of our businesses and farms; and

    WHEREAS, Mansfield, Ohio has a significant interest in the continued vitality of General Aviation, Aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, educational institutions, and aviation organizations and community airports and airport operators; and

    WHEREAS, Ohio general aviation airports contribute nearly $5.56 billion or $478 per capita, to the state’s economy yearly. General aviation airports alone are responsible for $1.7 billion in economic activity annually. The total economic impact of aviation in Ohio is $10.5 billion; and

    WHEREAS, general aviation plays a vital role in the State’s response to emergencies and natural disasters; and

    WHEREAS, the total employment impact of all airports in Ohio is 142,800 jobs with an annual payroll of nearly $3.2 billion. Ohio’s 98 general aviation system airports support a payroll of nearly $287.3 million. The total direct and indirect impact was 17,352 jobs and $498 million in payroll; and

    WHEREAS, organizations like the Ohio Aviation Association, the Alliance for Aviation Across America, National Business Aviation Association, National Association of State Aviation Officials, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and National Air Transportation Association recognize and promote the interests and importance of aviation in Ohio and throughout the world; and

    WHEREAS, Many communities in Ohio depend heavily on General Aviation and Community Airports for the continued flow of commerce, tourists and visitors to Ohio; and

    WHEREAS, Mansfield is proud of our own Mansfield Lahm Airport that can handle large commercial and military aircraft, has a 9,001 ft. x 150 ft. primary runway and has a crosswind runway of 6,795 ft. x 150 ft. plus overruns. It offers a precision instrument approach plus VOR, NDB, RNAV and ASR approaches; has a full service Fixed Based Operator; and encompasses over 2,400 acres with immediate access to a number of adjoining industrial parks.

    NOW, THEREFORE, I, TIM THEAKER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF MANSFIELD, OHIO, do hereby recognize December 2014 as


    in Mansfield Ohio and encourage all Mansfield residents to join in its observance.
