CITY OF KLAMATH FALLS, OREGON
WHEREAS: General Aviation and Community Airports play a critical role in the lives of our citizens, as well as in the operation of our businesses and farms.
WHEREAS: The State of Oregon has a significant interest in the continued vitality of General Aviation, Aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, educational institutions and aviation organizations and community airports and airport operators.
WHEREAS: There are 97 public use airports and over 360 private airports in the state which are part of the essential national system of airports serving our nations 617m000 pilots.
WHEREAS: There are over 400 aviation related businesses in 78 cities throughout Oregon with an average wage of over $62,395.
WHEREAS: General Aviation plays a vital role in the State’s response to emergencies and natural disasters.
WHEREAS: Airports in Oregon were responsible for over 12,000 family wage jobs in 78 cities around the state and over $2 billion in economic impact attributable to the states aviation industry.
WHEREAS: The nation’s aviation infrastructure represents an important, public benefit, and direct, Congressional oversight is necessary to ensure stable funding of this system.
WHEREAS: Numerous Aviation organizations and association recognize and promote the interests and importance of aviation in Oregon and throughout the world.
WHEREAS: Many communities in Oregon depend heavily on General Aviation and Community Airports for the continued flow of commerce, tourists and visitors to our State
NOW, THEREFORE, I, TODD KELLSTROM, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF KLAMATH FALLS, OREGON, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM MARCH 2014 TO BE:
GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH
