  • PROCLAMATION

    WHEREAS, General aviation and community airports play a critical role in the lives of many citizens, especially those who operate businesses and farms, as well as providing essential services that ensure the continued flow of commerce, tourists and visitors to our region and areas throughout the state; and

    WHEREAS, General aviation and the Kerrville-Kerr County Airport have an immense economic impact on Kerrville; and

    WHEREAS, The state of Texas has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, aviation organizations and educational institutions and community airports and airport operators; and

    WHEREAS, According to the Texas Department of Transportation, general aviation in Texas supports more than 56,000 jobs, generates $14.6 billion in economic activity annually, and plays a vital role in the state’s response to emergencies and natural disasters; and

    WHEREAS, The nation’s aviation infrastructure represents an important public benefit, and congressional oversight should be in place to ensure stable funding of this system; and

    WHEREAS, According to the Federal Aviation Administration, there are 391 public use airports in the state serving 49,616 pilots and 18,500 active general aviation aircraft,

    NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bonnie White, Mayor of the City of Kerrville, Texas, do hereby proclaim the month of November 2016 as

    General Aviation Appreciation Month
