    WHEREAS, the City of Greensburg in the state of Indiana has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aircraft manufacturing, aviation educational institutions, aviation organizations, and community airports; and

    WHEREAS, general aviation and the Greensburg Municipal Airport contributes an annual economic impact of $88,634,626 to the City of Greensburg; and

    WHEREAS, Indiana is home to 69 system airports that serve 10,125 pilots and 3,151 active general aviation aircraft; and

    WHEREAS, the state is home to 72 fixed-based operators, 58 repair stations, and 4 FAA-approved pilot schools; and

    WHEREAS, general aviation contributes an annual economic impact of $5.88 billion to Indiana’s economy and support more than 32,000 jobs; and

    WHEREAS, general aviation not only supports Indiana’s economy, it improves our overall quality of life by supporting emergency medical and healthcare services, law enforcement, firefighting, disaster relief, and transporting business travelers to their destinations quickly and safely; and

    WHEREAS, the Nation’s aviation infrastructure represents an important public benefit, and Congressional oversight should be in place to ensure stable funding of this system; and

    THEREFORE, I, Mayor Gary Herbert of Greensburg, Indiana do hereby proclaim general aviation a vital strategic resource to the city of Greensburg and declare June to be General Aviation Appreciation Month.
