General Aviation Appreciation Month 2015
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Morgan in the state of Colorado has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aircraft manufacturing, aviation educational intuitions, aviation organizations and community airports; and
WHEREAS, general aviation and local airports have an immense economic impact on the City of Fort Morgan; and
WHEREAS, Colorado his home to 61 public-use airports, which serve 17,435 pilots and 5,412 active general aviation aircraft; and
WHEREAS, Colorado is home to 70 fixed-based operators, 71 repair stations, 447 heliports, nine FAA-approved pilot schools, 2,817 flight students and 3,528 flight instructors; and
WHEREAS, general aviation in Colorado contributes over $2.4 billion to the state’s economy annually; and
WHEREAS, general aviation not only supports Colorado’s economy, it improves overall quality of life by supporting emergency medical and healthcare services, law enforcement, firefighting and disaster relief, and by transporting business travelers to their destinations quickly and safely; and
WHEREAS, the nation’s aviation infrastructure represents an important public benefit, and Congressional oversight should be in place to ensure stable funding of this system;
NOW THEREFORE, I, Terry L. McAlister, Mayor of the City of For Morgan, do hereby proclaim general aviation a vital strategic resource to the City of Fore Morgan and declare July as GENEAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH in the City of Fort Morgan.
