WHEREAS: the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aircraft manufacturing, aviation education institutions, and community airports, and
WHEREAS: general aviation not only supports Arkansas’ economy, it improves overall quality of life by supporting emergency medical and healthcare services, law enforcement, firefighting and disaster relief, and by transporting business travelers to their destinations quickly and safely, and
WHEREAS: general aviation plays a vital role in Arkansas’ and the NWA region’s response to emergencies and natural disasters, and
WHEREAS: the continued vitality of aviation and aviation organizations is important to the growth of our economy, and
WHEREAS: according to the FAA, Arkansas has 91 public-use airports, which serve 5,048 pilots and 3,053 active general aviation aircraft, and
WHEREAS: according to the Arkansas State Airport System Plan, general aviation airports in Arkansas support an economic value of more than $494 million annually, and
WHEREAS: the nation’s aviation infrastructure represents an important public benefit,
NOW THEREFORE, I, Lioneld Jordan, Mayor of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas do hereby proclaim the month of February, 2016 as
“GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH”
in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
