WHEREAS, the City of Fallon in the State of Nevada has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aircraft manufacturing, aviation educational institutions, aviation organizations, and community airports; and
WHEREAS, general aviation and local airports, including Fallon Municipal Airport, have an immense economic impact on the City of Fallon; and
WHEREAS, Nevada is home to 49 public-use airports that serve 6,927 pilots and 2,030 active general aviation aircraft; and
WHEREAS, the state is home to 29 fixed-based operators, 29 repair stations, and 4 FAA-approved pilot schools; and
WHEREAS, general aviation contributes an annual economic impact of $721 million to Nevada’s economy and supports over 3,300 jobs; and
WHEREAS, general aviation not only supports Nevada’s economy, it improves our overall quality of life by supporting emergency medical and health care services, law-enforcement, fire-fighting, disaster relief, and transporting business travelers to their destinations quickly and safely; and
WHEREAS, the nation’s aviation infrastructure represents an important, public benefit, and Congressional oversight should be in place to ensure stable funding of this system.
THEREFORE, I Ken Tedford, Jr., Mayor of the City of Fallon do hereby proclaim month of June 2014 as:
General Aviation Appreciation Month
a vital strategic resource to the City of Fallon.
