  • PROCLAMATION

    WHEREAS, the City of Enid in the State of Oklahoma has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aircraft manufacturing, aviation educational institutions, aviation organizations and community airports; and

    WHEREAS, general aviation and the Enid Woodring Regional Airport have an immense economic impact on the City of Enid; and

    WHEREAS, Oklahoma is home to 136 public-use airports, which serve 7,889 pilots and 3,915 active general aviation aircraft; and

    WHEREAS, Oklahoma is home to 91 fixed-base operators, 128 repair stations, 449 heliports, 8 FAA-approved pilot schools, 2,113 flight students and 1,249 flight instructors; and

    WHEREAS, general aviation not only supports Oklahoma’s economy, it improves overall quality of life by supporting emergency medical and healthcare services, law enforcement, firefighting and disaster relief, and by transporting business travelers to their quickly and safely, and the nation’s aviation infrastructure represents an important public benefit, and Congressional oversight should be in place to ensure stable funding of this system;

    NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that I, Bill Shewey, Mayor of the City of Enid, do hereby proclaim May 2016, to be:

    “GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH”

    In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Enid to be affixed this 5th day of May 2016
