    From the Office of the Mayor

    The City of Dayton, Ohio

    WHEREAS, General Aviation and community airports play a critical role in the lives of our citizens, as well as in the operation of our businesses and farms; and

    WHEREAS, The state of Ohio ha a significant interest in the continued vitality of General Aviation, Aerospace, air craft manufacturing, educational institutions and aviation organizations and community airports and airport operators; and

    WHEREAS, According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, Office of Aviation, the state has a total of 150 public use general aviation airports. According to the FAA, these airports serve 15, 586 pilots and 6,319 active general aviation aircraft; and

    WHEREAS, many communities in Ohio depend heavily on General Aviation and Community Airports for the continued flow of commerce, tourists, and  visitors to our state.

    NOW, THEREFORE, I, Nan Whaley, Mayor of the City of Dayton, do hereby proclaim December 2016 as

    GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH

    in Dayton.

    IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set

    my hand and caused the Seal of the City of

    Dayton to be affixed this 1st day of December,

    2016.
