    FROM THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR

    THE CITY OF DAYTON, OHIO

    WHEREAS, General Aviation and community airports play a critical role in the lives of our citizens, as well as in the operation of our businesses and farms; and

    WHEREAS, The state of Ohio has a significant interest in the continued vitality of General Aviation, Aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, educational institutions and aviation organizations and community airports and airport operators; and

    WHEREAS, According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, Office of Aviation, the state has a total of 150 public-use general aviation airports. According to the FAA, these airports serve 15,586 pilots and 6,319 active general aviation aircraft; and

    WHEREAS, Many communities in Ohio depend heavily on General Aviation and Community Airports for the continued flow of commerce, tourists, and visitors to our state.

    NOW, THEREFORE, I Nan Whaley, Mayor of the City of Dayton, do hereby recognize December 2015 as

    GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH

    in Dayton and throughout Ohio.

    IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Dayton to be affixed this 1st day of December, 2015
