The City of Dayton, Ohio
WHEREAS, The City of Dayton has a significant interest in the continued vitality of General Aviation, Aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, educational institutions and aviation organizations airports; and
WHEREAS, Organizations like the Ohio Aviation Association, the Alliance for Aviation Across America, the National Association of State Aviation Officials, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and the National Air Transportation Association recognize and promote the interests and importance of aviation on Ohio and throughout the world; and
WHEREAS, General aviation and community airports play a critical role in the lives of our citizens, as well as in the operations of our business and farms. Dayton is home to the Dayton International Airport, Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport, and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
WHEREAS, The total employment impact of all airpots in Ohio is 142,800 jobs with an annual payroll of nearly $3.2 billion. Ohio’s 98 general aviation system airports support a payroll of nearly $287.3 million. The total direct and induced impact was 17,352 jobs and $498 million is payroll; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Nan Whaley, Mayor of the City of Dayton and do hereby proclaim December as
GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Dayton to be affixed this 1st day of December 2014.
