CITY OF DANBURY
BE IT HEREBY KNOWN TO ALL THAT:
THE MAYOR AND THE CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF DANBURY
GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH
WHEREAS: General aviation and community airpots play a critical role in the state’s economy, and benefits our citizens and business; and
WHEREAS: Connecticut has 100 repair stations, 3 FAA-approved pilot schools, 906 flight students and 846 flight instructors. In addition to its role in the economy, general aviation plays a vital role in the state’s response to emergencies and natural disasters; and
WHEREAS: General aviation in Connecticut contributes over $7.4 billion to the state’s total economic output. The state is home to 20 public-use general aviation airports that serve 5,182 pilots and 1,657 active general aviation aircrafts; and
WHEREAS: The City of Danbury has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, educational institutions and aviation organizations and community airports and airport operators. The Danbury Municipal Airport is a busy and popular airport open for public general aviation use. It opened in 1930, and sits on approximately 250 acres conviently located near major northeastern cities such as New York City and Boston.
THEREFORE, be it resolved that I, Mark D. Boughton, as Mayor of the City of Danbury, do hereby proclain September 2015 as General Aviation Appreciation Month.
