WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Columbus, Ohio has the responsibility to honor outstanding achievements by members of our community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus has a significant interest in the continued vitality of General Aviation, Aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, educational institutions and aviation organizations and airport; and
WHEREAS, according to the 2014 Ohio Airports Economic Impact Study, general aviation airports in Ohio support 17,497 jobs, $688 million in annual payroll and contribute more than $1.8 billion to the state’s economy; and
WHEREAS, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation, Office of Aviation, the state has a total of 150 public-use general aviation airports. According to the FAA, these airports serve 15,586 pilots and 6,319 active general aviation aircraft; and
WHEREAS, as citizens of Columbus, we are pleased to honor and recognize General Aviation as a positive community partner and asset within our community; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Andrew J. Ginther, Mayor of the City of Columbus, Ohio, do hereby recognize December 2016:
GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH
and urge all members of our community to join in recognition if this significant occasion and the achievements above mentioned.
