WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Columbus, Ohio has the responsibility to honor outstanding achievements by members of our community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus has a significant interest in the continued vitality of General Aviation, Aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, educational institutions and aviation organizations and airports; and
WHEREAS, according to the 2o14 Ohio Airports Economic Impact Study, general aviation airport in Ohio support 17,497 jobs, $688 million in annual payroll and contribute more than $1.8 billion to the state’s economy; and
WHEREAS, Organizations like the Ohio Aviation Association, the Alliance for Aviation Across America, National Business Aviation Association, National Association of State Aviation Officials, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and National Air Transportation Association recognize and promote the interests and importance of aviation in Ohio and throughout the world; and
WHEREAS, As citizens of Columbus , we are pleased to honor and recognize General Aviation as a positive community partner and asset within our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Michael B. Coleman, Mayor of the City of Columbus, Ohio, do hereby recognize December 2015 as
GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH
and urge all members of our community to join in recognition of this significant occasion and the achievements above mentioned.
