In recognition of
GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH
WHEREAS, on behalf of the citizens of the City of Cleveland, I am honored to offer this Proclamation designating December as General Aviation Appreciation Month; and,
WHEREAS, general aviation and community airports play a critical role in the lives of our citizens, as well as in the operation of our businesses and farms. Cleveland is home to two airports: Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and Burke Lakefront Airport; and,
WHEREAS, the city of Cleveland has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, charter airlines, aviation educational institutions and organizations and community airports and airport operators; and
WHEREAS, Cleveland depends heavily on general aviation and community airports for the continued flow of commerce, tourists and visitors to our city. It plays a significant role in the City’s response to emergencies and natural disasters and is a noteworthy contributor to the vitality of the region’s critical medical care industry.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Frank G. Jackson, the 56the Mayor of the City of Cleveland, do hereby offer this Proclamation designating December 2013 as General Aviation Appreciation Month in the City of Cleveland. I urge all citizens to join me in recognizing the importance of general aviation and our local airports to the economic health of our community and the quality of life for our residents, businesses and visitors.
