A RESOLUTION BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE IN SUPPORT OF GENERAL AVIATION
WHEREAS, the State of Ohio, birthplace of aviation, has a significant intere in the continued vitality of general aviation, aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, education institutions and aviation organizations, community airports and airport operators; and
WHEREAS, In Ohio, general aviation contributes a total of $5.56 billion to the State’s economy with 17,352 jobs or $478 per capita; and
WHEREAS, Ohio has 172 general aviation airports. There are 17,250 and 10,386 general aviation aircraft with a total employment impact of 142,800 jobs in all airports in Ohio. Ohio’s 98 general aviation system airports support a payroll of nearly $287.3 million. The total direct and induced impact was 17,352 jobs and $498.0 million in payroll; and
WHEREAS, the National afviation Hall of Fame is located in Riverside, Ohio anc continues to be a nationally prominent source of information about the past and future of our aviation heritage; and
WHEREAS, Ohio is home to 60 charter flight companies, 131 airport stations, one fractional provider, 13 flight schools operating 95 aircraft providing 251 jobs and 124 fixed-based operators in the State.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, STATE OF OHIO:
Section1: That the City of Riverside supports general aviation as a strategic resource to our community and declares November to be “General Aviation Appreciation Month” in the City of Riverside.
Section2: This Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the date of its passage.
