WHEREAS: The state of Mississippi and the City of Lexington has a significant interest in the health of General Aviation, aircraft manufacturing, educational institutions and aviation organizations which employs 1,563, and has an economic impact of $860 million in the state of Mississippi; and
WHEREAS: Given our state and region;s geography, a great many businesses and communities depend upon General Aviation aircraft and small aircraft of all types for access to medical treatment, mobility, economic opportunity, disaster relief and a wide range of critical resources. Moreover, use of General Aviation by businesses is an invaluable tool for companies in Lexington to support their operations; and
WHEREAS: The State of Mississippi and the City of Lexington takes pride in the role it plays in generating jobs, and economic activity through its aviation community including its local airport and FBOS, whihc vital engines of growth in the economic framework of our state.
THEREFORE: I, Roobin McCrory, Mayor of the City of Lexington in the State of Mississippi do hereby proclaim General aviation as a vital local resource and strategically important member of our community. As such, we urge our statewide and federal officials to pursue economic, aviation modernization, security, environmental and other policies that will conitnue to support our General Aviation community and allow it to prosper.
