    PROCLAMATION

    WHEREAS: General aviation and community airports play a critical role in the lives of our citizens, as well as in the operation of our businesses, industry, ranches, and farms; and

    WHEREAS: The State of Nebraska has a significant interes in the continued vitality of general aviation, aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, educaitonal institutions, aviation organizations, community airports, and airport operators; and

    WHEREAS: Across the State, 5,250 Nebraskans are employed in air transportation, and it is estimated that tourism via general aviation supports 403 additional full-time jobs in Nebraska and $10.6 million in payroll; and

    WHEREAS: Acording to Merge Global study commissioned by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association and the National Association of State Aviation Officials, the annual economic impact of general aviation in Nebraska is $721 million, or $409 per capita; and

    WHEREAS: Many communities in Nebraska depend heavily on general aviation and community airports for the continued flow of commerce, tourists, visitors to our State and also for response to emergencies and natural disasters; and

    WHEREAS: Nebraska has 81 airports serving 3,627 pilots and 2,756 general aviation aircraft and is home 13 charter flight companies, 12 repair stations, numerous flight schools, over 70 fixed-based operators and over 160 aerial applicators and The Nebraska Department of Aeronautics estimates that state airports handle more than 970,000 general aviation aircraft operations a year; and

    WHEREAS: Organizations like the Nebraska Aviation Council, Nebraska Department of Aeronautics, Nebraska Airport Officials, Nebraska Aviation trades Association, the Alliance for Aviation Across America, National Business Aviation Association, National Association of State Aviation Officials, national Air Transportation Association, recognize and promote the interests and importance of aviation in Nebraska and throughout the world; and

    THEREFORE: I, Scott Getzchman, Mayor of the City of Fremont, Nebraska do hereby proclaim general aviation a vital strategic resource to the City of Fremont and declare May to be

    General aviation Appreciation Month

    In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Fremont, Nebraska to be affixed this 15th day of May, 2012.
