Idaho General Aviation Proclamation
WHEREAS, General Aviation and Community Airports play a critical role in the lives of our citizens, as well as in the operation of our businesses and farms.
WHEREAS, The City of Driggs has a significant interest in the continued vitality of General Aviation, community airports and airport operators.
WHEREAS, According to the 2010 Idaho Airport System Plan, the economic impact of general aviation in Idaho is over $426 million. The same report found that the total annual economic impact of the Driggs-Reed Memorial Airport is $7,159,900.
WHEREAS, Organizations like the Idaho Aviation Association, the Alliance for Aviation Across America, National Business Aviation Association, National Association of State Aviation Officials, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and National Air Transportation Association recognize and promote the interests and importance of aviation in Idaho, the City of Driggs, and throughout the world.
WHEREAS, The Driggs-Reed Memorial Airport and it’s operators directly employ 105 people.
WHEREAS, General Aviation plays a vital role in the City’s response to emergencies and natural disasters.
WHEREAS, The City of Driggs depends in part on general Aviation and for the continued flow of commerce, tourists and visitors to Teton Valley
THEREFORE: I, Daniel Powers, Mayor of the City of Driggs, do hereby proclaim General Aviation a vital strategic resource to the City of Driggs and declare June to be General Aviation Appreciation Month.
