    CITY OF CINCINNATI

    BE IT PROCLAIMED:

    WHEREAS, general aviation and community airports play a critical role in the lives of our citizens, as well as in the operation of our businesses and farms; and

    WHEREAS, the State of Ohio has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, educational institutions, aviation organizations, and community airports and airport operators; and

    WHEREAS, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation, Office of Aviation, Ohio has a total of 150 public-use general aviation airports, and according to the FAA, these airports serve 15,586 pilots and 6,319 active general aviation aircraft; and

    WHEREAS, according to the Ohio Airports Economic Impact Study, general aviation airports in Ohio contribute more than $1.8 billion to the state’s economy; and,

    WHEREAS, many communities in Ohio depend heavily on general aviation and community airports for the continued flow of commerce, tourists, and visitors to our state;

    NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN CRANLEY,

    Mayor of the City of Cincinnati do hereby proclaim December 2016

    as

    “GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH”

    in Cincinnati.

    IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have

    hereunto set my hand and caused this seal of

    the City of Cincinnati to be affixed this First

    day of December in the year Two Thousand

    and Sixteen.
