  • City of Charlotte, North Carolina Proclamation

    WHEREAS, the city of Charlotte in the state of North Carolina has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aircraft manufacturing, aviation educational institutions, aviation organizations, and community airports; and

    WHEREAS, North Carolina is home to 114 public-use airports that serve 14,055 pilots, 5,451 active general aviation aircraft, is home to 65 repair stations, 11 FAA-approved pilot schools, 2,560 student pilots, and 2,379 flight instructors; and

    WHEREAS, general aviation airports contribute an annual economic impact of over $2 billion to North Carolina’s economy and support 15,460 jobs; and

    WHEREAS, general aviation not only supports North Carolina’s economy, it improves overall quality of life by supporting emergency medical and health services, law-enforcement, firefighting, disaster relief, and by transporting business travelers to their destinations quickly and safely:

    NOW, THEREFORE, I, Daniel G. Clodfelter, Mayor of Charlotte, do hereby proclaim February 2015 as
