WHEREAS, Arizona has 29 public-use general aviation airports, including Chandler Municipal Airport, that provide essential services to the communities in the State, including access to medical treatment, disaster relief, firefighting and law enforcement; and
WHEREAS, general aviation in Arizona is a thriving economic engine, supporting 6,890 jobs and contributing $609 million annually to the State’s economy; and
WHEREAS, the state of Arizona has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aircraft manufacturing, aviation organizations, airport operators and community airports; and
WHEREAS, there are 30,246 pilots, 10,042 active general aviation aircraft, 68 fixed-based operators, 156 repair stations, 26 flight schools and 319 heliports in Arizona; and
WHEREAS, business, farms and communities across Arizona depend heavily on general aviation and community airports for the continued flow of commerce, tourists and visitors to our states;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jay Tibshraeny, Mayor of the City of Chandler, Arizona, do hereby proclaim:
GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH
in the City of Chandler and urge all citizens to join me in recognizing the importance of this vital industry.
