    WHEREAS, the City of Brookfield has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aircraft manufacturing, aviation educational institutions, aviation organizations and community airports; and

    WHEREAS, general aviation has a major economic impact on the City of Brookfield and the State of Wisconsin; and

    WHEREAS, Wisconsin is home to 119 public-use airports,which serve 9,278 pilots and 4,485 active general aviation aircraft; and

    WHEREAS, general aviation not only supports Wisconsin’s economy, it improves overall quality of life by supporting emergency medical and healthcare services, law enforcement, firefighting and disaster relief, and by transporting business travelers to their destinations quickly and safely; and

    WHEREAS, “The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration” will take place in Wisconsin on July 25-31, 2016, as people from across the world converge to take part in the Experimental Aircraft Association’s “AirVenture Oshkosh;”

    NOW, THEREFORE, I, Steven V. Ponto, Mayor of the City of Brookfield, do hereby proclaim, July 25-31, 2016, as

    “AVIATION WEEK”

    in the City of Brookfield, and urge all citizens to join in this observance.
