City of Boca Raton
WHEREAS, general aviation and community airports are of vital importance to all citizens, both economically as well as during emergencies and natural disasters; and
WHEREAS, Florida has 106 public-use general aviation airports, serving 52,437 pilots and 14,754 active general aviation aircraft, generating 64,512 jobs with an annual payroll of $2.4 billion and contributing more than $7.7 billion to the state’s economy; and
WHEREAS, organizations such as the Florida Airport Council, Florida Aviation Trade Association, Florida Aviation Aerospace Alliance, the Alliance for Aviation Across America, National Business Aviation Association, National Association of State Aviation Officials, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and National Air Transportation Association recognize and promote the interest and importance of aviation in Florida and throughout the world;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Susan Haynie, Mayor of the City of Boca Raton, Florida, do hereby proclaim April as
GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH
in Boca Raton, and in so doing, recognize general aviation as a vital strategic resource to the State of Florida and the City of Boca Raton.
