  • WHEREAS, general aviation and community airports play a critical role in the lives of many citizens, especially those who operate businesses and farms, as well as providing essential services that ensure the continued flow of commerce, tourists, and visitors to our region and areas throughout the state of Texas; and,

    WHEREAS, general aviation and the Jack Brooks Regional Airport are an important economic engine for Beaumont and the Southeast Texas region; and,

    WHEREAS, the state of Teas has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, aviation organizations and educational institutions and community airports and airport operators; and

    WHEREAS, according to the Texas Department of Transportation, general aviation in Texas supports more than 56,000 jobs, generates $14.6 billion in economic activity annually, and plays a vital role in the State’s response to emergencies and natural disasters; and

    WHEREAS, the nation’s aviation infrastructure represents an important public benefit; and,

    WHEREAS, according to the FAA, there are 391 public-use airports in the state serving 49,616 pilots and 18,500 active general aviation aircraft;

    NOW, THEREFORE, I, Becky Ames, Mayor of the City of Beaumont, do hereby proclaim the month of November 2016, as


    in Beaumont.

    ACCORDINGLY, the Mayor has

    hereunto set her hand and caused the Seal of

    the City of Beaumont to be affixed.
