TO THE PEOPLE OF AKRON:
Whereas: Akron in the State of Ohio, has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aircraft manufacturing, aviation education institutions, aviation organizations and community airports; and
Whereas: General aviation and community airports play a critical role in the lives of our citizens, as well as in the operation of our businesses and farms; and
Whereas: According to the Ohio Airports Economic Impact Study, general aviation airports in Ohio contribute more than $1.8 billion to the state’s economy; and
Whereas: The nation’s aviation infrastructure represents an important public benefit, and Congressional oversight should be in place to ensure stable funding of this system.
Now, Therefore: I, Daniel Horrigan, Mayor of the City of Akron, Ohio, do hereby proclaim December 2016 as:
“GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH”
in the City of Akron and ask all residents to join me in thanking the aviation community for all they do and continue to do for travelers.
