MICHIGAN AVIATION ASSOCIATION
2012 MICHIGAN AIR TOUR
WHEREAS, the Michigan Aviation Association is a non-profit Michigan Corporation formed to operate exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes, including specifically, to promote and advance aviation, aviation education and safety among its members and the general public, throughout the State of Michigan; and
WHEREAS, many communities are attempting to eliminate their airports, favoring the use of the land for housing or other commercial ventures, but the MAA has created the Michigan Air Tour to demonstrate the economic importance of airports; and
WHEREAS, since the first Michigan Air Tour in 1929, different Michigan airports have been toured with attention focused on our State’s aviation infrastructure and the economic importance of aviation to our State and communities.
THEREFOR BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners is honored to have the Lenawee County Airport chosen as a 2012 tour desitnation and they officially welcome the Michigan Aviation Association; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Commissioners commend the efforts of the Michigan Air Tour to provide an opportunity for the public to earn about general aviation and the economic importance of our airports.
