WHEREAS, general aviation and community airports play an important role in the state’s response to emergencies and natural disasters as well as Wyoming’s businesses – supporting commerce and attracting visitiors; and
WHEREAS, general aviation airports contribute more than $73 million to the state’s economy annually, directly and indirectly supporting an estimated 12,268 jobs; and
WHEREAS, Wyoming has 32 public-use airports, 1,874 pilots, 1,010 general aviation aircraft, 8 repair stations, 2 flight schools and 34 fixed based operators; and
WHEREAS, the state has significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation in Wyoming.
NOW THEREFORE, I, MATTHEW H. MEAD, Governor of the State of Wyoming, do hereby proclaim June, 2015 as
GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Executive Seal of the Governor of Wyoming to be affixed this 4 day of June, 2015.
