The Texas aviation industry is critical to our economy and way of life. It brings families together; transports business executives to important meetings; delivers essential cargo; provides life-saving medical evacuation, police search and rescue, utility grid and oil pipeline inspections and border protection; and it helps to control pests that can wreak havoc on farmer’s crops.

This year marks the 105th anniversary of flight in Texas, and today there are more than 300 airport and more than 27,000 aircraft registered in the Lone Star State. With more than 153,000 job in the Texas aviation and aerospace industry, Texas is the number one state for air transportation employment and gross domestic product. The long history of the aviation industry in our state and its economic success today continue Texas on its path as a leader for our nation.

In recognition of the importance of aviation to our society, the month of November has been designated as a time to acknowledge this industry.

As such, I encourage all Texans to learn more about aviation and to recognize the contributions of the hard working professionals who work in all sectors of the aviation industry.

Therefore, I, Greg Abbott, Governor of Texas, do hereby proclaim November 2015 to be

in Texas, and urge the appropriate recognition whereof.

In official recognition whereof, I hereby affix my signature this the 23rd day of October, 2015.
