STATE OF TEXAS
OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR
The Texas aviation industry is critical to our economy and to our way of life. Individuals, families, businesses and government agencies rely on air transportation to get from place to place, move cargo, keep our borders secure, control wildfires, support agriculture and perform many other critical functions.
Today general aviation and commercial service airports support hundreds of thousands of jobs. The 51,000 certified pilots and more than 19,400 active aircraft flying the Texas skies contribute $59.5 billion to our economy and transport 7.8 billion pounds of cargo to the Lone Star State each year.
Many Texas and national aviation organizations designate the month of November as a time to acknowledge the importance of aviation to our society.
At this time, I encourage all Texans to learn more about aviation in our state and to recognize the contributions of the hardworking professionals who support all sectors of this vital industry.
Therefore, I, Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, do hereby proclaim November 2014 to be
Aviation Appreciation Month
in Texas, and urge the appropriate recognition whereof.
In official recognition whereof, I hereby affix my signature this the 28th day of October, 2014.
Governor of Texas
