STATE OF TEXAS
OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR
The Texas aviation industry is a critical component of our economy and our way of life. The aviation industry brings families together, transports essential cargo to businesses, helps to control pests that can wreak havoc on crops and performs a variety of other vital functions.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of flight in Texas. Today, there are more than 300 airports in the Lone Star State, and more than 27,000 general aviation aircraft are registered here. From pilots to mechanics to service industry workers in our airports, hundreds of thousands of Texans rely on the aviation industry for employment. Those jobs produce billions of dollars in wages, helping Texans prosper and our economy remain strong.
In recognition of the importance to our society, the month of November has been designated as a time to acknowledge this industry.
At this time, I encourage all Texans to learn more about aviation and to recognize the contributions of the hardworking professionals who work in all sectors of the aviation industry.
Therefore, I, Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, do hereby proclaim November 2010 to be
Aviation Appreciation Month
in Texas, and urge the appropriate recognition whereof.
In official recognition whereof, I hereby affix my signature this the 1st day of November 2010.
Governor of Texas
