STATE OF OREGON
OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR
WHEREAS: Aviation and the aviation industry play essential roles in the lives of our citizens, and in the economic viability of our cities, counties, businesses, ranches and farms; and
WHEREAS: The state of Oregon has a significant interest in the continued vitality of the state’s airports, aviation industry, aircraft manufacturing, aviation organizations and community airports; and
WHEREAS: Oregon is home to more than 400 aviation businesses in 78 cities throughout the Beaver State producing over $22.7 billion in economic benefit to the state; and
WHEREAS: Corporate and business aviation provide a link from Oregon to the nation and world for nation and multinational companies; and
WHEREAS: The Aviation industry and airports in Oregon provide more than 76,000 jobs throughout the state; and
WHEREAS: Oregon is home to over 90 percent of all of the U.S. heavy-lift helicopter capability and home to the largest kit built manufacturer in the world.
NOW, THEREFORE: I, John A. Kitzhaber, M.D., Governor of the State of Oregon, hereby proclaim October 2014 to be
AVIATION INDUSTRY APPRECIATION MONTH
in Oregon and encourage all Oregonians to join in this observance.
