GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH MARCH 2011
WHEREAS, General aviation and community airports play a critical role in the lives of our citizens, as well as in the operation of our businesses and farms; and
WHEREAS, The State of New Hampshire has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, educational institutions and aviation organizations and community airports and airport operators; and
WHEREAS, New Hampshire is home to 24 public use general aviation airports, which serve 5,908 pilots and 2,055 general aviation aicraft; and
WHEREAS, General aviation supports 8,000 jobs in New Hampshire, producing $412 million in payroll; and
WHEREAS, General aviation plays a vital role in the State’s response to emergencies and natural disasters; and
WHEREAS, New Hampshire is home to 11 charter flight companies, 23 repair stations, numerous flight schools with one operating 29 aircraft and providing 69 jobs. In addition, there are 17 fixed-based operators in the state; and
WHEREAS, Many communities in New Hampshire depend heavily on general aviation and community airports for continued flow of commerce, tourist and visitors to our State;
NOW, THEREFORE, I JOHN H. LYNCH, GOVERNOR of the State of New Hampshire, and the Executive Council, do hereby proclaim MARCH 2011 as GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH in New Hampshire.
