    HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 124

    1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE COMMERCIAL AIRPORTS

    2 AND GENERAL AVIATION AIRPORTS IN THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI FOR

    3 THEIR IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE STATE’S INTERMODAL

    4 TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND DESIGNATING THE

    5 MONTH OF MAY AS AVIATION MONTH IN THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI.

    6 WHEREAS, there are eight commercial airports and 69 general

    7 aviation airports in the State of Mississippi; and

    8 WHEREAS, the airports in Mississippi provide outstanding

    9 aviation facilities which are an integral part of the state’s

    10 intermodal transportation system; and

    11 WHEREAS, these airports are used daily to transport

    12 passengers and cargo into the state and from the state throughout

    13 the world; and

    14 WHEREAS, the airports in Mississippi generate hundreds of

    15 millions of dollars in direct and indirect economic benefits

    16 within the state, and play an essential role in the state’s

    17 economic development and growth; and

    18 WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize

    19 those entities that make important contributions to the State of

    20 Mississippi and its citizens by improving the economic development

    21 and growth of the state:

    22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF

    23 REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING

    24 THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the commercial airports and

    25 general aviation airports in the State of Mississippi and the

    26 aviation industry for their important roles in the state’s

    27 intermodal transportation system and economic development, and H. C. R. No. 124 *HR12/R1752*

    ST: Aviation; designate May as Aviation Month in Mississippi.

    28 designate the month of May 2011, and every May thereafter as

    29 Aviation Month in the State of Mississippi.

    30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be

    31 furnished to the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Airports

    32 Association and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
