    of the

    COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY

    To All To Whom These Presents Shall Come:

    WHEREAS, General aviation and community airports play a critical role in the lives of our citizens, businesses and farms; and

    WHEREAS, A recent study found that in Kentucky, general aviation contributes over $1.6 billion to the state’s total economy; and

    WHEREAS, The State of Kentucky has 53 public-use general aviation airports, serving 5,827 pilots and 1,934 active general aviation aircraft. General aviation airports support 9,400 jobs across the state and $454 million in labor income; and

    WHEREAS, A great many businesses and communities in Kentucky depend upon general aviation aircraft and small aircraft of all types for mobility, access to medical treatment, economic opportunity, disaster relief and a wide range of critical resources; and

    WHEREAS, Business aviation is an invaluable tool for companies in Kentucky to support their operations, thus brining new business, investment and jobs to Kentucky. Business aircraft improve efficiency, save money and open doors of opportunity to rural areas not reached by commercial aviation; and

    WHEREAS, The nation’s aviation infrastructure represents an important public benefit and Congressional oversight should be in place to ensure stable funding of this system;

    NOW, THEREFORE, I, MATTHEW G. BEVIN, Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, do hereby proclaim July 2016, as

    GENERAL AVIATION MONTH

    in Kentucky.

    DONE AT THE CAPITOL, in the City of Frankfort the 21st day

    of June, in the year of Our Lord Two Thousand Sixteen and

    in the 225th year of the Commonwealth.
