    WHEREAS, in our nation’s history, aviation innovation, exploration and manufacture has and continues to exemplify the American spirit, a willingness to look beyond the possible and break barriers while forging a new path for generation to follow; and

    WHEREAS, the state of Kansas has and continues to play a pivotal role in aviation’s significant impact on our culture and our history by producing more aircraft than anywhere else, earning the nickname of Air Capitol of the World, and the United States leads the world in aviation manufacturing, technology development and utilization; and

    WHEREA, the state of Kansas is the birthplace of general aviation and is home to many aviation pioneers, including Cylde Cessna, Lloyd Stearman, and Walther and Olive Beech, and continues to be a base for many of the world’s leading aircraft and aerospace manufacturers including Boeing, Cessna, Hawker Beechcraft, Bombardier Learjet, and Spirit AeroSystems; and

    WHEREAS, air transportation benefits Kansas in a variety of ways: airports in Kansas are the gateway to the nation’s air transportation system and the world’s economy, air transportation attracts and retains businesses in communities throughout the state, air transportation supports tourism, agriculture, emergency medical services, the military and public safety; and

    WHEREAS, airports in Kansas, of which there are eight commercial and 132 general avation, account for approximately $20 billion in total economic impact, support 47,651 jobs, generates $2.3 billion in payroll, produces $10.4 billion in crop value to the efforts of aerial applicators; and

    WHEREAS, many employers in Kansas, while not directly located on an airport, benefit from the proximity and availability of the state’s airport system, including but not limited to Kansas farmers that owe as much as $1.2 billion in crop value to the efforts of aerial applicators; and

    WHEREAS, educational and research organizations such as the National Institute for Aviation Research at Wichita State University the national Center for Aviation Training provide world-class research, training and expertise to aerospace entities throughout the world; and

    WHEREAS, organizations such as the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Alliance for Aviation Across America, General Aviation manufacturers Association, Kansas Commision of Aerospace Education, National Business Aviation Association, National Air transportation Association, Experiemental Aircraft Association, National Association of State Aviation Officials, and the Wichita Aero Club recognize and promote the interests and importance of aviation in Kansas and throughout the world:
