STATE OF INDIANA
TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS MAY COME, GREETINGS:
WHEREAS, general aviation provides vital access for Indiana businesses, both small and large, to the global marketplace; and
WHEREAS, many Hoosier educational institutions, businesses, hospitals, law enforcement agencies, and agricultural operations rely on general aviation and community airports every day; and
WHEREAS, there are 114 public access airports in Indiana, serving 10,621 pilots and 3,151 general aviation aircraft; and
WHEREAS, general aviation supports more than 32,000 jobs and more than $1.78 billion in payroll to the state; and
WHEREAS, the total annual economic output of Indiana’s general aviation airports and operators is more than $5.8 billion; and
WHEREAS, many communities in Indiana depend heavily on general aviation and community airports for the continued flow of commerce, tourists and visitors to our state;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Michael R. Pence, Governor of the State of Indiana, do hereby proclaim June 2014 as
GENERAL AVIATION APPRECIATION MONTH
in the State of Indiana, and invite all citizens to duly note this occasion.
