“General aviation and community airports serve a vital purpose in supporting the agricultural sector in South Dakota, protecting the crops and supporting food production across the country,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “We thank Governor Daugaard for issuing this proclamation and highlighting the importance of general aviation and our network of airports.”
“Local airports are vitally important to the lives of innumerable South Dakotans, providing support for agriculture, commerce, and access for rural communities,” said Mark Kimberling, President and CEO of the National Association of State Aviation Officials. “We thank Governor Daugaard and Jack Dokken, Program Manager with the Office of Air, Rail & Transit, for supporting general aviation and community airports.”
According to the proclamation:
“Many communities in South Dakota depend heavily on general aviation and community airports for the continued flow of commerce, tourists and visitors to our state.”
