Governor Baker Declares May ‘General Aviation Appreciation Month’

  • Today, the Alliance for Aviation Across America applauded Governor Charlie Baker for declaring May 2018 “General Aviation Appreciation Month.” In Massachusetts, general aviation airports contribute more than $516 million to the state’s economy.

    “Governor Baker’s proclamation raises the awareness about the immense economic impact of general aviation and local airports for communities and businesses across Massachusetts,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “We thank the Governor for recognizing this vital industry.”

    Matt Zuccaro, President of Helicopter Association International stated, “Helicopters and general aviation play a vital role in supporting emergency medical care, facilitating law enforcement, monitoring our coastline and maintaining power lines, among many other uses. We thank Governor Baker for his continued recognition and support of general aviation.”

    According to the proclamation:

    “General aviation and community airports play a critical role in the lives of our citizens, as well as in the operation of our businesses and farms.”

    Formed in 2007, the Alliance for Aviation Across America is a non-profit, non-partisan coalition of over 6,300 individuals representing businesses, agricultural groups, FBO’s, small airports, elected officials, charitable organizations, and leading business and aviation groups that support the interests of the general aviation community across various public policy issues.
