    The Alliance for Aviation Across America Commends Florida Governor Scott for Declaring April ‘Aviation Appreciation Month’

    Washington, DC – The Alliance for Aviation Across America today thanked Governor Rick Scott for declaring April 2016 “Aviation Appreciation Month.” Florida’s general aviation airports contribute more than $7.7 billion to the state’s economy annually.

    “We thank Governor Scott for issuing this proclamation, and helping to raise awareness about the valuable contribution of general aviation to Florida” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of Alliance for Aviation Across America. “General aviation is vital to supporting critical emergency services, medical care, law enforcement and facilitating growth and business activity for communities across the state.”

    In addition, according to the Governor’s proclamation:

    “There are 20 commercial service and 108 general aviation/community airports, helping make Florida the number two state for aerospace and aviation establishments in the United State…Florida’s general aviation/community airports accommodate more than 9 million visitors and business travelers annually.”

    Formed in 2007, the Alliance for Aviation Across America is a non-profit, non-partisan coalition of over 6,300 individuals representing businesses, agricultural groups, FBO’s, small airports, elected officials, charitable organizations, and leading business and aviation groups that support the interests of the general aviation community across various public policy issues.
