Alliance Statement on the Passing of Congressman Jim Oberstar
Washington, DC — Today, the Alliance for Aviation Across America expressed condolences and sorrow for the passing of former Congressman Jim Oberstar. Congressman Oberstar served as the Chairman of the House Transportation Committee and was a member of the House General Aviation Caucus.
“During his tenure in Congress, Congressman Jim Oberstar was a tireless supporter of general aviation and community airports,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “Our deepest condolences and thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.”
Formed in 2007, the Alliance for Aviation Across America is a non-profit, non-partisan coalition of more than 6,300 individuals representing businesses, agricultural groups, FBO’s, small airports, elected officials, charitable organizations, and leading business and aviation groups that support the interest of the general aviation community across various public policy issues.
