    National Aviation Organizations Commend Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter for Declaring September “Aviation Appreciation Month” in the state of Idaho

    Washington, DC – Today, national aviation organizations commended Idaho Governor C. L. “Butch” Otter for declaring September “General Aviation Appreciation Month.” Across Idaho, general aviation generates $429 million in economic impact annually.

    Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America (AAAA) stated, “We are very excited to have Governor Otter and Idaho join the growing list of states that have recognized the value of general aviation and we would like to thank the Idaho Aviation Association for their support during this process.

    “We thank Governor Otter for recognizing the impact business aviation has in Idaho,” stated Ed Bolen, President and CEO of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA). “Across the United States, business aviation has an enormous economic impact and helps generate many thousands of jobs. [Too many spaces] This proclamation is an important step in recognizing recognizes the value and impact of this industry and other the issues important to business aviation.”

    James K. Coyne, President and CEO of the National Air Transportation Association (NATA), stated “for communities across the United States, general aviation serves as a vital lifeline in terms of supporting local economies and a strong manufacturing sector, law enforcement, medical care, and a host of important services and resources. This proclamation recognizes the economic impact this industry has both in Idaho and across the United States.”

    “With their unique capabilities, helicopters provide lifesaving services such as aerial firefighting to communities throughout Idaho, along with many other missions conducted on behalf of the greater good,” said Matthew Zuccaro, President of Helicopter Association International (HAI). We welcome Governor Otter’s proclamation and thank him for the opportunity to spotlight the economic and operational benefits of helicopters and general aviation to communities across Idaho.”
