Air show to potentially return to Terre Haute

  • The Terre Haute Regional Airport Board has begun the process of bringing an air show back to the city.

Board President Rick Burger said the board is currently applying for the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds.

He said the event is dependent on whether there’s a jet team and that the board should know by December if they have secured that.

If that comes together Burger said the event could return in 2024.

“It takes a process and a lot of time to bring this all together, but the last air show there was 11 people on the committee,” Burger said. “A lot of people outside the committee helped too and we feel like we still got all that in place and we can build on, maybe make a bigger and stronger air show yet.”

Burger said the hope is to make a future air show even bigger and better than the last one, which took place in 2018.

“At the end of the day when we had that air show it was a great air show and did we have some challenges? Yes, we did,” Burger said. “But, I think we got those addressed. Maybe this time as we talk through the process, but to bring it back to Terre Haute, people travel all over from other states to come to that last air show we had too.”
