Young Eagles is a nationwide project to get kids interested in aviation and hopefully become pilots when they get older. Recently, Blair flew his Vietnam era Cessna l-19, nicknamed “Bird dog” into the Marianna Municipal Airport. The refurbished 1950’s era aircraft helps young people interest in aviation.

“We like these smaller airports where you can walk on the tarmac and give the kids a taste of what’s it’s like.” Lyn Blair said.

Federal Aviation Administration officials predict a serious shortage of qualified pilots within the next decade if millennials don’t start becoming qualified to fly aircraft.
